Under-5 Program- Fall 08

(Children born between:  Aug 1st, 2003 and July 31st, 2004
Registration: Deadline for Fall 08 Season -August 21st-Let your friends know to register their child today!
Late Registrations: Any registration received after the 8/21/08 deadline.  Late fee is $10.00.

Season runs:   September 13 through October 25
Length of Season: 7 weeks, one day a week on Saturdays.
Game Play Locations: Asheville Indoor Soccer Center or the Buncombe County Sports Park
Cost: $65 which includes uniform.  Players must purchase new uniform each fall season in ABYSA. In the spring, returning player’s fees are $48 dollars since you have a uniform from the previous season.  
Description:  Play groups are formed and play each Saturday at the Asheville Indoor Soccer Center or the Buncombe County Sports Park.  Each team will be assigned a time-slot that will remain the same throughout the season.  Coaches will work together to take their play group through a 30 minute practice and will then play a thirty minute game. Players are expected to be part of the practice as well as the game.  Coaches will receive coaching curriculum designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmentally and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and further each child’s love for the game.
 


Under-6 Programs- Fall 08

Length of Season: 11 weeks, 8 games, 2 days a week, -1 practice a week and 1 game on Saturday.
Rain Make-ups: When a game is cancelled due to weather, games will be made up during the week later in the season or at the end of the season.
Game Play Locations: John B. Lewis Soccer Complex also called JBL off Azalea Rd.
Cost: $75 which includes uniform.  Note:  Players must purchase a new uniform each fall with ABYSA.  In the spring, returning player’s fees are $58 dollars since you have a uniform already.
Description:  Teams were formed randomly by school district each fall season and will remain the same through the Spring 09 season with the exception of a few players who do not return.  New players will be added to the existing teams from the fall season and new teams are formed if numbers allow..   Each team will play each Saturday at the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex.  Each team will be assigned a time-slot that will remain the same throughout the season.  Coaches will receive a coaching curriculum designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmentally and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and decision making while furthering each child’s love for the game.  During the week the coach will take the children through the practice curriculum and then let the players scrimmage at the end of each practice session.  On game day, each coach will work with the opposing coach and take both teams’ children through 1 of the practice activities to reinforce the skills learned that week before starting the game (15-20 min practice followed by a 40-45 min game).  Pictures will be scheduled during one of the weeks of the program.

Game Play Locations: (BCSP) Buncombe County Sports Park in west Asheville JBL Soccer complex in east Asheville, or NB Park in North Buncombe.
Cost: $75 which includes uniform.  Note:  Players must purchase a new uniform each fall with ABYSA.  In the spring, returning player’s fees are $58 dollars since you have a uniform already. Format: teams play 6v6 (5 field players and a goalkeeper).  Games will be held on 60 X 40 yard field.  No off sides and no goalkeeper punts or throws over the center line.
Description:  Teams are formed randomly by school district each fall season and will remain the same through the Spring 09 season with the exception of a few players who do not return. .   Each team will play each Saturday or may possibly have a game during the week.   Coaches will receive a coaching handbook designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmentally and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and decision making while furthering each child’s love for the game.  During the week the coach will take the children through the practice curriculum and then let the players scrimmage at the end of each practice session.  Pictures will be scheduled during one of the weeks of the program.  Check the calendar page on the website for updates on picture day for your age group

Description:  Teams are formed randomly by school district each fall season and will remain the same through the Spring 09 season with the exception of a few players who do not return. .   Each team will play each Saturday or possible have a game during the week.   Coaches will receive a coaching handbook designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmentally and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and decision making while furthering each child’s love for the game.  During the week the coach will take the children through the practice curriculum and then let the players scrimmage at the end of each practice session.  Pictures will be scheduled during one of the weeks of the program.  Check the calendar page on the website for updates on picture day for your age group
 


Under 14 Programs- Fall 08
 
U13 and U14 Combined (Children born between:  Aug 1st, 1994 and July 31st, 1996)
Registration Deadline:  Fall 07-June 29th / Spring 08- Jan. 18th  
Late Registrations:  Any registration received after deadline.  We will always try to place players who register late when space permits.

Season runs:  Fall 07-Aug 17-Nov. 6th / Spring 08-March 24th thru May 12th
Length of Season: 11 weeks. 7-8 games on Saturday, 2-3 days a week include 1 game per week and 1 or 2 practices.
Rain Make-ups:  When a game is cancelled due to weather, games will be made up during the week or on (fall 07-Nov. 3rd and spring 08-May 17) which are scheduled rain make-up dates.
Game Play Locations:  the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex, the Buncombe County Sports Park, Steen’s Field, and W.W. Estes Elem.
Cost: Fall 07-$69.00 / spring 08 $52.00 plus $17.00 uniform fee if child did not participate in the fall 07 season.
Format: U14 teams play 6v6.  Games will be held on 70 X 50 fields. (5 field players and a goalkeeper).  Off sides will be called at this age group.  
Description:  Teams are formed by school district and play a game each Saturday at the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex, the Buncombe County Sports Park, W.W. Estes and Steen’s field.  Each team will practice during the week throughout the season.  Coaches will receive a coach’s handbook designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmental and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and decision making while furthering each child’s love for the game.  Pictures will be scheduled during one of the weeks of the program.  Check the calendar page for updates on picture day for this age group.
 


HS Age Group (Coed Programs) - Fall 08
 
U15-U18 Combined (Children born between: Aug 1st 1990 and July 31st, 1994)

Length of Season: 11 weeks, 8 games, 2-3 days a week; 1-2 practices a week and 1 game on Saturday or during the week if needed.

Game Play Locations: the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex, the Buncombe County Sports Park, Glen Arden Elem, North Buncombe Park, Fletcher Park, and Jackson Park.
Cost: $75 which includes uniform.  Note:  Players must purchase a new uniform each fall with ABYSA.  In the spring, returning player’s fees are $58 dollars since you have a uniform already. Format: Format will depend on roster sizes.  Off sides will be called at this age group. Each team must have at least 3 girls on the roster and 2 have to be on the field at all times.  Description: This age group will start a week later than other programs to allow teams extra time to recruit players.  Teams are formed by school district and play a game each Saturday at the John B. Lewis Soccer Complex, the Buncombe County Sports Park, Glen Arden Elem, North Buncombe Park, Fletcher Park, and Jackson Park.  In the event that a district does not have enough players we will work to combine districts to form a solid team.  Each team will practice during the week throughout the season.  Coaches will receive a coach’s handbook designed by ABYSA Director of Coaching and Player Development, Shane Weems, which will be made up of developmental and age appropriate practice activities.  All activities are fun, friendly games intended to teach ball control and decision making while furthering each child’s love for the game.  Some teams may decide to only play in games and that is a decision that each team and coach makes at the beginning of the season.  Pictures will be scheduled during one of the weeks of the program.  Check the calendar page for updates on picture day for this age group.
