Kate Hammes, New HFC Girls DOC

Coach Hammes joins HFC having spent the last 6 years in the Charlotte area, first with the former Lake Norman Soccer Club (LNSC) and most recently with Charlotte Independence (CISC). She has held numerous roles in their organization including Girls NPL Director, and Director of the Player Development Center. Her most recent experience has been leading CISC teams in the ECNL Regional League and just won the Carolina Conference with the 07 CISC North Girls. During her time at LNSC, where she was also the Director of Coaching for Girls, she won 2 State Titles with her 04 Elite Girls team.

Before coming to North Carolina, she coached in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, at Sporting OFC. There she led her 97/98 Girls to 4 State Titles and won a State Title with the 98/99 Girls. Kate has extensive experience in the college recruiting process and has helped place more than a hundred girls in college soccer programs, including many at Power 5 schools.

Kate has worked in the soccer world, both playing and coaching, for more than 20 years. Her recent coaching resume in the United States only tells part of the story. Before returning to Omaha, she played for Pro Club CA Independiente in Argentina and was a 3-time National Champion in Costa Rica with Desamparados. Not only has she played internationally, her coaching and teaching background has deep roots in Latin America. The experiences on her resume, before beginning her coaching in the US back in Omaha, are simply too vast to list!

In terms of formal coaching credentials, Kate holds a USC Premier Diploma, has earned her degree from FIFA in Sports Management, and is currently working on her UEFA C License.

“I am excited for this new opportunity and I am really looking forward to being a part of the Asheville community. We can take what Joey has achieved over the last several years with the HFC Girls’ program and go to the next level. That is what I want to build in Asheville. Soccer is the beautiful game and I hope that all of our HFC ladies feel that way about our sport. I look forward to sharing my passion and believe that Asheville can develop National Level talent. I know how to do it, and that will be among our goals for HFC Girls.”
