Kick Out Hunger! October 21

Donations collected at JBL and BCSP on match day on Saturday, October 21

Thank you ABYSA families as we were able to donate approximately 700 pounds of food! The 2023 Kick Out Hunger event was another big success, and couldn't have been done without all those involved. Big thank you to our partner, Land O' Frost for their support with this food drive. Thank you to MANNA Food Bank as well for collecting and distributing to the ones who are experiencing food insecurity.  It is always AWESOME to witness our soccer community coming together to help make WNC a better place!

In partnership with Land O’Frost and MANNA Food Bank, ABYSA will sponsor a Kick Out Hunger! Food Drive on October 21. ABYSA will collect donations of canned and shelf-stable items (see suggested items below) at John B. Lewis Soccer Complex and the Buncombe County Sports Park.

ABYSA and HFC recognize
that food security is an ongoing crisis in our community, and hope that our families can join this effort to Kick out Hunger! We believe that this cooperative project helps us meet our mission to “Empower children, strengthen families, and enrich our community through soccer, the world’s game.”

As a family company, Land O’Frost sees great importance in keeping our communities and their families healthy and active. That’s why they devised the Land O’Frost Youth Sports Initiative in 2003, which provides funds to help cover costs associated with organizing and operating youth sports organizations. Through that program, Land O’Frost has been a partner with ABYSA since 2011.

MANNA Food Bank collects, stores, warehouses, and distributes food to dedicated, accredited nonprofit partners throughout 16 counties in Western North Carolina, including the Qualla Boundary. MANNA regularly provides emergency food support to more than 100,000 people every month through these food distribution efforts. MANNA’s mission is to involve, educate, and unite people in the work of ending hunger in Western North Carolina, and its vision is a hunger-free WNC.

MANNA also happily accepts non-food personal care & hygiene items such as shampoo/conditioner, soap (hand and body), deodorant, oral care products, menstrual care products, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning/sanitation products, etc. These items are always in high demand throughout our partner agency network.

Big Thanks to Land O Frost for their generous support of ABYSA!
