Highland Football Club Announces College Recruitment Coordinator and HFC Girls and Boys Coach for 2022-23

Western North Carolina, May 11, 2022- Billy Lesesne is joining the HFC Coaching Staff as College Recruitment Coordinator for all High School level boys and girls players and as a team coach for our ECNL Regional League Program. “We always feel really fortunate when an extremely talented and experienced soccer professional choses Western North Carolina as where they want to be with their family, and there is no better example than this great addition to our staff” says Mike Rottjakob, ABYSA Executive Director. 

“Billy has coached and recruited players at every level in college soccer and understands how to work with players so they can make informed choices. The reality is that all of our Senior HFC players can find a good fit for a student-athlete experience, and play college soccer, if that is the best choice for their academic future. We want to make sure all of our HFC players have the guidance to help them make good choices, with their parents, when they get in to high school.,” adds Rottjakob.

Lesesne joins the HFC staff after more than 30 years of college coaching. Coach Lesesne began as the assistant men’s coach at the College of Charleston in 1990 and moved to his Alma Mater, Erskine, where he led both the Men’s and Women’s program for six years. After Erskine, he spent two years at Vanderbilt University before moving to ACC powerhouse Duke University where he coached the next fourteen years, eleven of those as the Associate Head Coach. His last stop, before joining HFC, was at the University of Georgia, where he served as head coach for the last 7 years.
